The Inevitable Consequences of Stolen Love – Part 1 (Unfaithfulness in Marriage)

“Jessica, my daughter, you have killed me,” wept Jessica’s mother when her cheating daughter returned home with her belongings after being disgraced and divorced by her husband for making love with another man.

“Why did you open your legs wide for a strange cotenant when you knew, full well, that you’re legally married to another man?”

“Why, Jessica?  Why?  Why?

“What an unfaithfulness in marriage!

“How are you going to cope with the consequences of your infidelity,” added the now bleary-eyed grandmother, amid sobs.

Did you ask what really happened to Jessica?

Oh, she was involved in an extra-marital affair with a man in the compound where she lived with her legal husband.

She was always making love with the man named Ryan, in the public bathroom, without knowing that a certain female cotenant of theirs always saw them.

That was what she did almost on a daily basis until she was caught in the act, by her husband and another man.

 “Whenever they planned to do that nonsense,” disclosed the woman who blew the lid open, “they would take their bath water and their bathing accessories to the bathrooms to have their bath.

“As soon as Ryan enters the men’s bathroom, and Jessica into the women’s bathroom, Ryan would climb the wall that separates the men’s and the women’s bathrooms, through the small space above the wall, and land in the women’s bathroom to make love to Jessica.

“When they must have satisfied themselves, Ryan would climb back to the men’s bathroom, have his bath, and leave the bathroom, leaving Jessica to do the same.

“This has been going on for some days now, and it happens only in the morning when almost everybody in the compound, including Jessica’s husband, Ramon, must have gone out to work.

“I sincerely feel for Ramon, the poor innocent butcher who goes out every day to hustle for his family, including his wife, not knowing that there’s another man, somewhere, who shares his wife with him.

“I didn’t want to share my discovery with anybody, but when the dirty practice between the two secret lovers became uncontrollable, I decided to do something to help the cheating wife’s husband.”

I didn’t know what to say to my informant, after listening to her cheating allegation, because of its delicate and sensitive nature, but because I must have to say something, I simply asked her not to broadcast her discovery further until the secret lovers repeat their game.

Less than three days later, the love incident truly repeated itself.

When my informant noticed that Jessica and Ryan making another move, that morning, she quickly called me on the phone and asked whether I could come and witness that outing.

Immediately the woman hung up, I quickly called Ramon.

He was on his way to the cattle market when he received my call, and as soon as I informed him about what was going on at home, he quickly turned back and returned home.

Jessica and Ryan, according to my informer, had just gone into their separate bathrooms when Ramon and I got home.

With that information, Ramon and I stealthily walked closer to the bathrooms.

While there, Ramon peeped through a hole in the door of the women’s bathroom and saw Ryan making love to his wife through her rear.

Immediately Ryan noticed that there was somebody at the door, he made a move to climb back to the men’s bathroom, in order to save his head, but before he could do that, Ramon had already smashed the door open and pulled him back to the women’s bathroom.

“If any of you make an attempt to escape from here, I’ll send him or her straight to hell,” threatened Ramon as he brought out a cleaver from his native attire called agbada.

Suspecting that the angry butcher might carry out his threat, neither of the two startled lovers made any attempt to escape from there.

While the disgraced lovers were still standing speechless and helpless, Ramon pulled out his phone from his agbada and began to take photographs and video clips of them, in their full nudity, which he later shared online.

The large crowd that gathered at the scene of the show of shame also took photographs and video clips of the unlucky lovers.

The onlookers who were expecting Ramon to use his cleaver on Ryan and his wife were utterly disappointed.

Instead of losing his temper and being violent, Ramon simply and calmly directed his wife to go into their apartment and move all her belongings out of the house and leave, meaning that he was no longer interested in their marriage.

“The only thing that will make me angry with you,” the soft-spoken butcher warned his wife, “is if you refuse to do what I have just told you.”

Sensing that her husband might lose his suppressed temper if further provoked, the cheating wife hurriedly went inside their house, removed her belongings, and left with them.

“For you,” said Ramon to Ryan, “I don’t blame you. If my wife did not open her legs wide for you, we shouldn’t be saying what we are saying now. 

“Let our just God, reward you accordingly,” he concluded philosophically.

That was the last day Ryan was seen in that compound and around the vicinity of the compound where he formerly lived.

It was his younger brother, in the company of some armed policemen, who came to take away his belongings, three weeks after.

“What a lucky Ryan!” you might say.

He was indeed lucky because it is not every thief of this magnitude goes home safe or with his head on his shoulder after being caught in the act with another man’s wife.

Ryan and Jessica’s story should serve as a poignant reminder that cheating in a relationship or stolen love, like every other theft, carries a heavy price that always leaves a trail of shattered lives and inevitable consequences.

Let their cautionary tale of cheating resonate and serve as a warning to those of us who may be tempted to trespass upon the boundaries of trust and commitment.

Let it also remind us that anybody who engages in adultery or unfaithfulness in marriage will eventually face the reckoning he or she deserves.
